Anne, the anglicized name for the founder of the orphanage supported by Global Partners In Life, was volunteering at an orphanage when she realized she could provide better care than the special needs children she worked with were currently receiving. She began taking children home to her apartment in 1996. To this day, Anne is called upon by hospitals and orphanages all over China to provide superior care for children suffering from the most severe medical conditions.
China’s one-child policy has led to an increase in the number of abandoned children, whose parents are afraid of governmental retributions.
Chinese parents want their one and only allowed child to be healthy, but often they can’t afford the medical treatments, so the child is abandoned.
With adoption policies changing, adoptions have decreased while the number of orphans has increased, thereby straining the limited resources for orphans.
With so many special needs children living in the orphanage, there is a constant and wide range of needs to be met. We are thankful that Global Partners In Life has been able to fund countless operations and medical procedures including, but not limited to, heart surgery, cleft palates, clubfoot, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and corrective vision actions.
